Kathy Wilson

Kathy Wilson has been learning about and working with Control Theory and Restitution for the past 8 years. During the first 4 years, she was employed by the Jakarta International School as an elementary guidance counselor.  While there, she acted as facilitator for the elementary school through the process of becoming a full Restitution School and trained teachers, parents and administrators in both theory and practice.  This experience is chronicled in the mini-book, “Becoming a Restitution School”.  She has been using Restitution in the school setting; teaching classroom lessons, handling disciplinary situations, leading stress and systems change workshops, and working in curriculum development. Restitution is also the system which she has taught to many parents in courses of 6 to 8 weeks in Jakarta, Houston and Austin. She and Linda Hart wrote the parenting course handbook, “Parenting Can be a Pleasure”, which guides facilitators and trainers through a parenting workshop, using Diane Gossen’s book “My Child Is a Pleasure”.

“I believe that Control Theory and Restitution represent the most innovative and comprehensive models for understanding and dealing with human motivation, relationship and leading a quality life that I have encountered in my many years of learning and practice. All the latest research and literature about brain compatible learning and emotional health fits well into this framework.  It truly has changed my own family and work life for the better and I am enthusiastic to share it with everyone I can”, says Kathy.

Kathy has a BS in Psychology and an M.Ed. in Guidance and Counseling.  A member of IAACT (The Association for applied Control Theory), she is certified in both Control Theory and Restitution.  For 24 years, she lived overseas and worked in 5 international schools as teacher and counselor. Her family transferred to Houston in 2000 and they are now permanently settled in Austin where Kathy continues to work in schools training staff and giving parenting courses. She has a married daughter teaching middle school English and a son attending the University of Texas.
