Yvonne graduated with great distinction from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Education and specialized in reading and special education. She was nominated for the Bates Award for outstanding teaching practicum and the Myrtle McGee Award for outstanding academic success. She went on to teach young offenders in a segregated classroom. This experience provided her with a great challenge and great joy. She completed her masters in educational administration at S.D.S.U. in San Diego, CA. She was a principal in Saskatchewan for 3 years and was very innovative in developing a system recognized and applauded for peace education innovations. She was married 3 years ago and relocated to Calgary, AB. She then accepted the position of Superintendent of Education with the Stoney Education First Nations Education Authority.
Yvonne is an extremely motivated, creative leader who embraces Sergiovani's theory of "Servant Leadership". She believes innovations must be married to research into best practices. She has enjoyed a rich and rewarding career to date and believes the future of education rests in the hands of innovative educators who dare to step outside the box. Children are her inspiration and have always motivated her to create exceptional systems whose engines are driven by the belief that "We must be the change we want to see in the world".
